Each month, we speak to a member of the Orientation Marketing team to find out a little more about their roles at Orientation Marketing, as well as what makes them tick.
This month we speak to Lauren Jones.
TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR ROLE AT ORIENTATION MARKETING?
I work across all our client base and help provide support with content planning, advert booking, email marketing and day-to-day account support. I work with the account leads to help supply our clients with valuable and timely information. So, my main role at the agency is centered around deadlines and statistics I help provide our clients with timely reminders for content and results for digital campaigns.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE PART ABOUT YOUR ROLE?
The best part of my role is collecting the statistics from the campaigns. A large percentage of time is spent on planning, collecting creative, supplying drafts and sign-offs. The best part for me is at the end when you get to see how everything has performed. It’s nice to see that we can help our clients actively engage with their target audience.
HOW DID YOU COME ABOUT WORKING IN THIS INDUSTRY?
IT has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember and as my mind works in a very analytical and organised sense, graphs, tables, and charts have always fascinated me. I chose to get involved in marketing due to its dynamic nature, and doing so in pharma is also highly engrossing because it’s a growing and interesting industry. The two years I have spent in marketing have allowed me to learn and developed my own skills - marketing is an ever-changing industry which you yourself can grow with.
CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT ONE OF THE MOST EXCITING PROJECTS YOU HAVE WORKED ON AT THE AGENCY?
I recently embarked on a new venture with one of our clients. I was supporting one of our accounts leads on a new campaign which involved us pulling together some creative through a photoshoot. Orientation Marketing has experience with this but it was my first time being involved in a project like this I found everything very educational. This campaign required us to be very organised and collected on-location, where many other people were involved from the production side, which was something I really enjoyed.
The best part about this particular project was seeing the end results as with anything it is nice to see what the end product is and this was one of the instances, it was particularly nice to see that the client was happy with the content that was produced and is looking forward to the next stage.
WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
Reading examples of work that has been completed by others inspires me to implement new tactics or re-think my own working style. Discovering examples of other people’s work can help you get a fresh perspective on things.
RECOMMEND A BOOK YOU RECENTLY READ.
Introduction to Digital Marketing in the Pharmaceutical Industry by Oliver Gryson.
WHAT’S YOUR WEIRDEST HABIT?
My weirdest habit probably has to do with colours. As I try to be an organised person, I have different colours for everything and multiple notebooks. One notebook would be a rough one (purple) and another for neat things (blue) and then I will use different colours throughout the book so general notes might be black and things that need actioning might be red. Questions I need to answer will be orange and questions I need to ask for myself will be blue.
WHAT SKILL DO YOU THINK EVERYONE SHOULD LEARN?
Organisation… you may have noticed a theme here but for me personally, organisation is massively important especially to my job role. I deal with a lot of deadlines and multiple specs if you are not organised it can become very easy to start missing things and that’s the last thing you want to happen. Everyone organises themselves in different ways be it with different books, using colours or different online tools in fact if you would like more examples we have a blog outlining our picks of 6 productivity tools for marketers.
