These are 14 essential items to remember to take with you to CPhI Worldwide (or any business trip).

1. BUSINESS CARDS

This is a necessity, especially on a business trip it is inevitable that you will be handing out and receiving business cards throughout the trip. Make sure you have a full stack on hand to give to people either visiting your stand or the stands you are visiting.

2. CHARGING CABLES

Power is key, you need to make sure you have access to phone and laptop chargers, even if you have a portable charger it will be no good without the necessary cables. If you are travelling to another country remember to bring a travel adapter so you can use their power outlets.

3. CHECK YOUR PHONE PLAN

Abroad phone charges can be extortionate so make sure you have the right plan. Call your provider before you go away and make sure the plan you have will cover you to make calls while abroad, if not pay the extra for that month, so you don’t receive high charges when you return home.

4. THINK BEFORE YOU PACK

Attending business meetings you want to look presentable and professional so try not to take clothes that are going to crease easily. Pick something that you know you can fold in the suitcase and it’s not going to be creased when you take it out. You might not be able to get hold of an iron when you are there so it is better to be safe than sorry.

5. REMEMBER THE ESSENTIALS

Don’t forget your toothbrush and toothpaste, there is nothing worse than going away and realising you haven’t packed a toothbrush or toothpaste. Appearance is important when meeting clients you don’t want to go out with bits of last night’s tea in your teeth.

6. CHECK YOUR LIQUIDS

Liquids have restrictions and this is important to remember otherwise you could end up holding yourself up in checking. Make sure if you’re going to take liquids that they go in a clear bottle that holds no more than 3.4 and then gets put into a clear plastic bag.

7. KEEP ALL DOCUMENTS IN A FOLDER

Documents are hard to keep track of when you are travelling and you don’t want to lose anything, keep everything in one file and this way it shouldn't get lost. Put your tickets, confirmations, itineraries, passport, medical cards and a list of current prescriptions in the folder.

8. DOWNLOAD MOVIES OR MUSIC FOR THE FLIGHT

Flights can be long and let’s be honest boring, don't miss your chance to download some movies or music for the flight, apps like Netflix and Amazon Music will allow you to pick a movie or song to download onto your device so you can listen or watch when you are offline.

9. PORTABLE CHARGER

Charging on the go is vital when attending these big shows. You will be using your phone a lot while out on business trips so your battery is going to deplete quickly, taking a portable charger means that you can charge any device no matter where you are.

10. EARPHONES

Flights, Ubers, train journeys all of these can be long and time-consuming so earphones are a must, this means you won't be distracting other people on the same journey as you, and having your earphones will help you pass time quicker.

11. PEN AND NOTEPAD

Pens seem like a simple thing, but they are easy to forget about. Notepads and pens become your best friend on these trips because there is no way you can remember everything that happens, use your notepad to take notes on conversations you have or ideas that you get.

12. PLASTERS AND HAND SANITISER

Two important things to remember are plasters and hand sanitiser, you are likely to be walking around a lot, going from one place to another and shoes can begin to rub so plasters are important for any blisters. Hand sanitiser is good product to have with you because you will be meeting lots of people and shaking many hands so it’s nice to keep your hands clean along the way.

13. GUM OR MINTS

No one wants smelly breath you don't want to be talking to someone and the only thing they remember is smelly breath. It's easy to forget to eat at these shows; sometimes it can be a long time between meals and your stomach acid will start to make it seem like you have smelly breath. So make sure you keep a good supply of gum or mints on hand to avoid those awkward situations.

14. WEAR COMFY CLOTHES

Comfort is key to a good flight so remember hoodies should be your best friend, don’t travel in your business attire unless you absolutely have to, a comfy flight will help you land in a good mood.

YOU’RE ALL SET!

If you can remember to pack these fourteen essential products you are bound to have a successful business trip with no surprises along the way. Pack light and enjoy your trip. We'll see you there!
