Today we speak to Sofie Ellicott.
Tell Us a Little Bit About Your Role At Orientation Marketing.
I am a Public Relations Account Executive and my role at the agency is based within the PR and Communications team. My position largely focuses on supporting client communication projects and contributing positively to both established and new client programmes. I have joined the agency during an exciting time as the department is growing quickly, and I look forward to seeing how my role develops at the agency, as well as working with Chris Halling, Director of Communications and Content.
What is your favourite part of the working day?
Throughout the working day my favourite part is client calls, as I enjoy talking to our clients and discussing existing and upcoming projects. This part of the day is always collaborative and engaging, and it is very interesting learning about what my colleagues have been working on for a particular client that week.
How did you come about working in marketing?
I have always had a passion for writing and creativity, so marketing is the perfect fit for me. I studied English Literature and Media Communications at university, and this further consolidated that marketing was the route I wanted to go down following my studies. I enjoy working in a progressive and interactive industry, and the collaborative nature of marketing stands out to me, as every day is different.
Tell us about your best day at the agency so far...
The best day at the agency so far was the Mayor of Chester visiting the new Steam Mill office and extending her best wishes to the team and the agency. This was an exceptionally special visit, and it was great to see her enthusiasm and interest in all things marketing!
What inspires you?
I am inspired by spending time with family and friends, as they always encourage me to step outside of my comfort zone and embrace every opportunity presented to me. I value creating memories and spending time with my family and friends. As cliché as it sounds you are not going to get another go at today so I am inspired to never put off till tomorrow what I can do today.
Recommend a TV series/film you recently watched.
The best TV series I have watched recently is Trigger Point, a BBC1 series based in London that follows Lana Washington, an experienced bomb disposal officer working for the Metropolitan Police. It’s one of those shows that you cannot stop watching once you start!
What’s your favourite music genre?
My absolute favourite music genre is undoubtedly country music and in particular American Country. I have always admired the depth in the lyrics and the way most songs tell a story! I saw Luke Combs, one of my favourite country signers, last year at the O2 in London and it was amazing!
What is the best marketing tip you can give?
The best marketing tip I could give would be to never stop learning. The marketing industry is exceptionally dynamic and progressive, therefore there is always something new to learn about. Immerse yourself in the latest news, trends, and technologies to ensure you are always at the top of your game within the industry.
Sofie will operate from the agency’s modern Chester office and will support PR and communications clients in locations around the world, ensuring that maximum coverage can be achieved for our client's news and key announcements.
